The Happy Movement – wellbeing workshops for schools

Speak to us about a session

Wiggle, giggle, and feel good inside!

Because Healthy Bodies Build Happy Minds.

Created by Julie Barrow, Certified Mental Health and Exercise Coach, The Happy Movement is a 60-minute wellbeing workshop designed especially for KS2 pupils. Through fun, active learning, children explore how movement, nutrition, and rest work together to build strong bodies and happy minds.
It’s energetic, inclusive, and rooted in science — helping every child find their own way to feel good inside.

Why it matters

1 in 6 children aged 5–11 experience a diagnosable mental-health issue.

Anxiety, low mood, and poor concentration are becoming increasingly common in schools — and physical inactivity and screen time are major factors.

By introducing children to movement-based wellbeing early, we can help them:

  • Boost confidence and mood
  • Improve focus and resilience
  • Build lifelong healthy habits

The Happy Movement gives schools a practical, joyful way to make a real difference.

Bring The Happy Movement to Your School

What's included

You want your pupils to feel confident, focused, and full of energy — but finding time for wellbeing can be hard.

That’s why The Happy Movement makes it easy for schools to bring movement-based wellbeing into the day, without extra pressure on staff.

Each 60-minute session blends light, engaging education with accessible physical activity — helping children understand their emotions and feel the benefits of moving their bodies.

Every workshop includes:

  •  A simple, child-friendly introduction to mood, feelings, and the brain — so children learn why they feel the way they do.
  • A fun, inclusive movement session — adaptable to every ability level and perfect for classrooms, halls, or outdoor spaces.
  • Guided reflection and discussion — exploring how emotions, rest, and nutrition all work together for wellbeing.
  • Expert guidance from Julie Barrow — Certified Mental Health and Exercise Coach who brings warmth, understanding, and proven techniques to every group.

Perfect for Years 3–6, these sessions fit easily into your school day and leave children — and teachers — smiling, calmer, and more connected.

“As a teacher, you already make a difference every day. The Happy Movement gives you one more way to help your pupils feel good inside — without adding to your workload.”

Aligned with the curriculum

The Happy Movement supports national wellbeing priorities, linking directly to:

• PSHE / RSHE: physical health, emotional regulation, healthy choices

• PE: participation, enjoyment and confidence in movement

• DfE wellbeing principles: resilience, self-awareness and early intervention

• Whole-child development: emotional literacy, body confidence and social connection
